Background:
The Houston Texans are one of the most exciting
new franchises in all of sports. When their predecessors,
the Houston Oilers relocated, there was quite
a void in Houston. Houston is one of the most
entertaining cities in the country and it made
no sense that they did not possess an NFL team.
For its first few years in existence, an expansion
team is generally allowed its share of mulligans.
But in the era of NFL parity, the reality is that
an expansion team better start competing or the
novelty will wear off pretty quickly. The Texans
feel that after biting the bullet for their first
two years in the league, it's time to produce
some fruits of their labor.
