Background:
A lot of fans didn't recognize the Steelers last
year. They wore the same black and gold uniforms,
but the franchise didn't resemble the one known
for its bruising rushing attack and suffocating
defense.
In an attempt to address its rushing woes, Pittsburgh
acquired former Eagles running back Duce Staley
early in free agency as a complement to pounder
Jerome Bettis. In part because of injuries, Staley
has not had 300 carries in a season since 1999.
However, if Bettis stays healthy, Staley shouldn't
expect to log that many carries this year.
