Team: Tennessee Titans
Sport: Pro Football (NFL)
Stadium: Adelphia Coliseum
Head Coach: Jeff Fisher
Super Bowls: None
Background: The big question mark in Tennessee
has been the status of former All-Pro running back Eddie George.
At one point, it appeared unlikely George would be back with
the team after he refused to take a pay cut. But now it appears
he will be back with the Titans this season. George, the franchise's
all-time leading rusher, agreed to cut his base pay somewhat.
Now his agent and the team are working on a new deal, including
incentives. George participated in mini-camp workouts earlier
this month, even though the new deal isn't done yet.
The Titans should contend for a playoff berth once again in
2004, but that goal should also be more of a challenge. Yes,
they have the reigning NFL co-MVP, quarterback Steve McNair,
at the helm. And if he has another good season, and they have
a solid running game to go along with that, Tennessee should
be able to put plenty of points on the board -- they averaged
over 27 points per game last season.
